The Nainital mountaineering club, the oldest one of its
kind, situated at Nainital, trains people for mountain climbing. It is
affiliated to the IMF and provides field training at Barapathar – Nainital which
is one of the best natural training areas in India. This training is very
useful for people interested in mountain climbing, trekking or any similar
adventure sports. Training period of varying duration the national institute of
mountaineering at Uttarkashi also conducts similar courses of varying duration
and for different levels of expertise peak booking fees. Inner line restrictions,
import of equipment, camera Permits, Insurance, medical Attention and
Evacuation procedures have been laid down in detail by the Indian
mountaineering foundation based in Delhi. This is the national apex body for the sports
in India.
